Need an Excuse to Spoil Your Dog? Today is the Perfect Day to Do So.
Did you know this August 10th is National Spoil Your Dog Day? I mean, who doesn’t want an excuse to spoil their furry friend for a whole day?! As man’s best friend, they deserve a little pampering, don’t you think? We’ve come up with a couple of fun ways to treat your pup a little more on this special day. Feel free to take an idea (or a couple) and show your fur-baby how much you love and appreciate them!
We’ve broken this list up based on your dog’s personality and their favorite ways to spend their time.
If your dog is a huge fan of walks, try taking them to a new trail or walk. Don’t cut this walk short; let them sniff around whatever they want for however long they want. After all, they do say sniffing is the dog-equivalent of social media. Sniffing allows them to stimulate their mind and catch up on previous scents that were there. Giving them an unlimited amount of time to sniff around can be a real treat for your pup!
If your dog is more of a fan of car rides, take them on a drive! Drive along the coast, on a long road, or anywhere really. Put the windows down and let your dog feel that breeze.
Let’s say your pup loves interactive play. They greet you at the door with their toys, wanting you to play with them. It’s a good idea to set aside some time to play with them! Play a long game of fetch, tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, or whichever game your pup loves the most.
What if your furbaby loves pampering? They love fun treats, being brushed, or warm baths. Then, this is the perfect day to set aside some time and give your pup this special treatment. If your dog loves fun treats, try making some at home! There’s plenty of recipes you can find online. One example is a homemade pupsicle. This consists of freezing a mix of plain yogurt, peanut butter, and banana in an ice cube tray. This makes for a delicious, safe frozen treat to help your pup beat the August heat. You can also try an at-home spa day, like a nice, gentle brushing or a warm bath.
There are countless ways to make your dog feel a little more special this Spoil Your Dog Day. Dedicate a little extra time to your pup, it is always worth it!
